Skill: Knight - First Aid
Regained: Day 140 - Nyssa's Game
The skill confers the knowledge of battlefield first aid to whoever has the shard - you know what injuries look like - you can tell a gash that's hit a major artery from one that hasn't, you know how to check for broken bones and internal bleeding. You understand how to stabilize someone who's bleeding out. You know how to set broken bones, and sterilize and use field medical supplies. You have an idea of - in a pinch - what herbs can be used to help someone, though that's not quite the focus, and you know the theory - though not exactly the practical skill behind - lower-level surgery - stitching up wounds and removing arrows from someone.
You can also use it to identify a lot of smaller things - you know when someone's poisoned and what the most common types are by the symptoms, and there are a lot of diseases you understand - though while there's the usual suspecs of Typhoid Fever and Dysentery, there's also stuff like Zombie Rot, Green Haze, and Demon Fever. You understand most of these on a basic level - not much more advanced than what it looks like in action and how to treat it.
You do, however, also know the basics of physical therapy - being able to restore damage to someone who's lost flexibility in their arms, or has suffered delusions and a minor addled mind. Though the most common use is to allow someone to work their body back up to maximum physical capacity.
